Academic Curriculum
BISPA will be an innovative specialist facility offering a high quality general education in balance with vocational training within the school week.
The curriculum is designed to develop young people who wish to follow a career in the performing arts. This will include business education, personal skills, numeracy, literacy and other significant academic and practical skills required for post school life, as well as the practical and theoretical training in the performing arts.
The curriculum combines academic and employability skills, with the specialist performing arts education that BISPA is renowned for. The curriculum’s broad division is that 60% of the time will be devoted to academic and employability subjects and 40% of time devoted to performing arts.

The academic curriculum in Years 7, 8 and 9 will provide specialist teaching in Mathematics, English (Language and Literature), Science, ICT, Humanities, Business and Enterprise and personal, social, moral and religious education.
At GCSE, BISPA offers a breadth of subjects and students are expected to follow GCSE courses in Mathematics, English Language, English Literature, Performing Arts and then select from a choice which is likely to include Science, Humanities, and Business Studies.
BISPA wishes to offer students the opportunity to continue studying into the Sixth Form, and we will publish details of our plans over the next year.
Supporting the teaching and learning at BISPA
BISPA has appointed a Special Needs Coordinator able to offer support to our students.
Modern technology is a prominent feature of BISPA including video projectors, LCD screens, the latest computer/IT and teaching equipment required to ensure academic preparation to the highest level.
