Admissions into BISPA

Introduction

We seek the very best young people who can benefit from our education irrespective of their background.

Admission is a partnership between potential students and ourselves.

Our aim is to admit students into BISPA who we can contribute effectively to our community and revel in the opportunities offered to develop both academic and vocational talents. The mutual aim will be to ensure a happy, fulfilling and successful school career which allows a student to mature into an accomplished performer with excellent academic understanding and qualification.

BISPA exists to offer individuals with a performance talent and commitment a chance to explore and develop to their full potential. A strong academic infrastructure will enable them to develop their personal skills and experiences ready for a fulfilling career.

How does the admissions procedure work at BISPA?

Following your enquiry your child will wish to apply for admission to BISPA. There are a  number of stages to this, and we will ask all applicants to ensure that the all stages are completed, otherwise the application may not be able to be progressed.

1. A completed application form and details of a referee will be required together with a non-refundable application fee of £50.

2. All young people who have submitted an application form will be invited to attend an  Entrance Audition which will consist of:

  - a short general interview

  - a practical audition in drama, singing and dancing

  - a written assignment to appraise communication skills, verbal reasoning, numeracy and literacy.

3. A reference will be sought from each applicant’s current school.

4. Additional information will be sought if necessary, though we do not anticipate this being a regular occurance.

5. Decisions will be made by the Entrance Audition Panel and communicated to applicants during February.

The exact details of the Entrance Audition will be supplied on receipt of a fully completed    application form and fee, but all applicants are likely to be required for a part of two separate days in late January, and the Entrance Audition may take place during a week day and/or a weekend.

The Entrance Audition Panel will comprise vocational and academic staff, and whilst this is a serious audition environment we will make every effort to ensure candidates are as relaxed and comfortable as possible. The decision of the Entrance Audition Panel is final. Applicants who are not successful may seek opportunities to gain admission into BISPA in future years, however.
